The Core Principle: We Don't See Your Data
FriendCleanse operates on a **local-first data model**. This means all the sensitive, personal data you create—your journal entries, your "Receipts," your quiz answers, your progress—is stored directly and exclusively on your physical device using Apple's **SwiftData** framework.
We, the developers of FriendCleanse, **do not have servers that store your personal content**, and we have no way to access, read, or decrypt it. Your data is yours and yours alone.
How iCloud Sync Works
To provide a seamless experience across your devices (like your iPhone and iPad), FriendCleanse uses Apple's **CloudKit** service. Here’s what that means for your privacy:
- Data is synced using your **private iCloud account**. The data is transferred directly between your device and Apple's iCloud servers.
- All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest on Apple's servers.
- As developers, we **do not have access to the private database** within your iCloud account. We cannot see, access, or manage the data you sync. This process is managed entirely by Apple and is tied to your Apple ID.
Data We Do Collect (Anonymous Analytics)
To improve the app and fix bugs, we collect a minimal amount of **completely anonymous, non-personal data**. This includes:
- Usage Data: Such as which features are used most often, and anonymized screen view counts. This helps us understand what parts of the app are most helpful.
- Crash Reports: If the app crashes, an anonymous report may be sent to us so we can fix the bug in a future update.
This data is aggregated and can **never** be used to identify you or be linked to your personal content.
